Alice Cooper, inventor of shock rock and pioneer of a performance style that explores the macabre and the theatrical, can be proud of being in the spotlight for over 40 years! Born in Detroit in 1948, he marked the early 1970s with his studied decadence, outrageous makeup and extreme performances involving guillotines, hangman's gallows, electric chairs, onstage monsters and live snakes, cutting his teeth in a band formed with his classmates. They were called Alice Cooper, and after signing with Frank Zappa’s label released their first album in 1969, followed by six more between 1970 and 1973. The clever mix of rock, punk, hard-rock and heavy metal was a huge hit with the public, and the records are still considered classics. The band split up in 1974 and Cooper launched a succesful solo career with the legendary "Welcome To My Nightmare" album. In the late1980s and into the 1990's he returned to the top of the charts with the massive hit single "Poison" and album "Trash," creating a wave of a newfound enthusiasm for newer shock rock acts like Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson and others. Alice Cooper has claimed his throne as the originator of trash rock, regularly releasing albums and performing all over the world! Inducted, with the other members of the original Alice Cooper band, he has become a true rock icon, maintaining the recipe of his success: energetic rock, a gothic aesthetic and legendary shows!
