Daughter of late avant-garde artist 'Moki Cherry' & African percussionist 'Ahmadu Jah', step daughter & brought up by left field jazz legend the late great 'Don Cherry'.

First sexual experience: sitting on 'Miles Davis' snake skin trouser clad knee aged 4.

Left her Long Island City New York loft family home aged 15 (encouraged by her mother & step father) to sing backing vocals with 'The Slits' & live in a squat in London with Slits lead singer 'Ari Up'.

Fronted left field jazz punk fusion groups 'Rip Rig & Panic' & 'Float Up CP'.

Recorded the infamous 'Slow Train To Dawn' single with 'The The'.

Became a pop legend when she released her first single 'Buffalo Stance' & performing it while 7 months pregnant on 'Top Of The Pops' followed by releasing a video of her 2nd solo single 'Manchild' starring all her children including the new born baby Tyson(fresh out of the womb). Went on to record 2 further solo albums, performing shows all over the World & on into collaborations with 'Massive Attack', 'Tricky' & 'Portishead' (all of whom's careers Cherry helped to kick start via her production company 'The Cherry Bear Organisation') leading to probably Cherry's most famous collaboration: The HUGE World wide smash '7 Seconds' which broke more barriers in terms of integrating language & politics into one arena than any other song since cancer snuffed out the career of the late great 'Bob Marley'.

In 2012 Cherry left the reservation yet again to work with Scandinavian left field improv jazz heavyweights 'The Thing' to make the widely acclaimed & heavily awarded 'Cherry Thing' album which forced Cherry yet again right back to the top of the innovators pile.

2013: Cherry joins 'RocketNumberNine' & 'Kieran Hebden' (aka 'Four Tet') to make her second album for probably the World's most important left field label 'Smalltown Supersound' the results of which both Cherry & RocketNumberNine are about to share with festival goers this summer.
