Shame on you if you’ve only heard of George Barnett further to the hype surrounding his cover of Daft Punk’s « Get Lucky »! YouTube may house an impressive collection of the English singer-songwriter and performer’s covers of famous songs, but there’s much more to him than that. At just 20 years of age, multi-instrumentalist George could play the drums, piano, guitar, bass, trumpet, harmonica and he could sing. He writes, records and produces all his songs himself. Up until four years ago this young man’s sole ambition was to become a drummer, and in 2008 he won the UK National Young Drummer of the Year award. He then decided that there was nothing to stop him from doing a few songs, and in September 2010 he released his first EP, « Sierra Planes ». He brought out his first album « 17 days » in March 2012 and last autumn he was back with another EP called « Animal Keeper », which fuses a Nine Inch Nails-like obscure atmosphere with a light-hearted pop reminiscent of Justin Timberlake. George Barnett is accompanied on stage by his band The Ninth Wave.Bets are on that you’ll be spellbound by the young Brit’s contagious energy, melodies and vocals!
