AMY MACDONALD
There can't be anyone who loves Amy Macdonald more than us Swiss. Her début album "This Is the Life" from 2007 was in the Swiss charts for more than 100 weeks and her two follow-up albums, "A Curious Thing" and "Life In A Beautiful Light", were top sellers. But Amy Macdonald doesn't see herself as a star: "I just stand on the stage and sing my songs, I think people like that." The singer is as honest as her songs, in which she tells genuine stories from real life. Her earthy Folk Pop, played on the right instruments, needs no gimmicks or pandering to current trends. And yet she can convey feelings in such a way that everyone dotes on her. In her refrains Macdonald reflects emotions, her soul voice with its unmistakeable accent gives her songs the necessary depth. The singer also plays a strong rhythm guitar, which, based on Scottish folklore, never fails to spur you on.

Already at the age of twelve, Amy Macdonald from Bishopbriggs, Scotland, had decided on a career as a musician. She had her epiphany at the T in The Park festival, one of the largest open-air events in Scotland. The very next day she picked up her father's guitar and taught herself to play, sing and compose. Over many years, she practised, wrote songs and occasionally performed her music in Scottish pubs. Upon reading a music magazine and finding an advert from a production company that was looking for new talent, she sent a couple of demo recordings to the address. The songwriter Pete Wilkinson discovered her potential among hundreds of entries, began working with Amy and helped her record, arrange and produce her songs.
In 2007 she released her début album "This Is the Life" and became an international sensation. The album reached the top ten in 15 countries, holding the top position in five of these – including Switzerland. Her fourth release from the album, the single of the same name, finally marked her path to European success. Since then, Amy Macdonald has sold more than 9 million albums and has performed at numerous sold-out live shows around the globe. On 6 June she will mesmerise the "Stedtli" in Aarberg with her disarming charm.

PEGASUS
