SEVEN
Everything becomes clear after four seconds of the title track. SEVEN is going "BACK" to his roots, to his idols and to the funk & soul he unconditionally loves. This album doesn't leave any questions unanswered; it is a study in perfection, totally unconventional and candidly uncompromising."This album is me, I am this album. If you don't like this album, you don't like me."

The MUSICIAN began again from the start. SEVEN thought about the type of music that stands the test of time, the songs that he still listens to after more than 20 years. "I spread my entire record collection out on the floor and looked for the songs that I still love as much today as when I first heard them. I wanted to know why. A song that stays with me forever must have at least one of these three superpowers: It makes me cry, it makes me dance or it leads me into the bedroom." And this was exactly the premise for this album.

KATIE MELUA
Katie Melua is one of Britain’s most successful recording artists of the millennium selling more than 11 million albums, 1 million concert tickets and receiving 56 platinum awards.
When Georgian-born Katie signed with Mike Batt’s Dramatico Records in September 2002, no-one could have imagined that by the release of her third album, Pictures, she would be the biggest-selling UK-based, female artist in the world that year. Her first two albums, ‘Call Off The Search’ and ‘Piece By Piece’ both became international number ones, and the story was to continue, after an exciting, record-breaking rollercoaster ride involving several massive world tours and many special moments – like Katie playing on stage for Nelson Mandela with her idols, Queen, or performing for or dining with The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

It was American singer Eva Cassidy – who had tragically died aged just thirty-three – who first drew Katie and Mike together. Independently, both had discovered Cassidy’s posthumously-released album Songbird, and when they met, it was their mutual admiration for her phenomenal singing and communicative ability that led to their decision to work together. Mike was in his fifties, Katie had just turned eighteen. “There are so many spooky coincidences about how our partnership started,” says Katie. “I only took up the guitar a few months before we met. The previous year, my music had been very pop and R&B, I wrote on a computer and listened to Eminem, Groove Armada and So Solid Crew. Then I started getting into artists like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Cat Stevens – older artists whose music felt raw and real. I looked around for modern music that had as much emotion, but I couldn’t find any. Then I discovered Eva Cassidy, and literally weeks later, I met Mike.”

JOHN NEWMAN
Sometimes the most extraordinary talent comes, seemingly, from nowhere. John Newman is only just 23 years old, but his voice and his songs cut through with a depth and a richness that’s way beyond a couple of decades and some change. A true force of nature, John writes, produces plays, performs and remixes his own music, as well as writing his own video scripts and designing his own clothes. This is a seriously larger than life character.

In 2012, a year before his first solo material had even seen the light of day, John Newman scored a number 1 single, appeared on both Later with Jools, and the Christmas Top Of The Pops, and had written and sung on two of the biggest dance hits to storm the UK charts in years: Rudimental’s massive number one “Feel The Love” and the powerfully anthemic follow up “Not Giving In”. Those who enjoy life’s savage juxtapositions will appreciate he was in hospital recovering from surgery to remove a (non-cancerous) brain tumour when he heard the song on national radio for the first time. “I woke up and heard my song on the radio,” he smiles. “That was quite surreal. The nurse was quite fit too, so it was good to turn around and say, ‘That’s my tune!’” Shortly after leaving hospital “Feel The Love” went to number 1 in the charts.
