Whereas many of his Spanish-language contemporaries undertook English-language crossover campaigns at one point or another in their careers, Colombian singer/songwriter/guitarist Juanes won global appeal in his native language exclusively and became perhaps the biggest and most important popular Latin music artist in the world in the early 21st century. After his debut album, Fijate Bien (2000), won him a Grammy Award for Best New Artist, Juanes broke through to global success with his second album, Un Día Normal (2002). In the United States alone, the album rode the Billboard Latin chart for two straight years, remaining in the Top Ten for a record-breaking 92 weeks. It also notched charting hit singles (six), Grammy nominations (eight), Grammy awards (five), and various other accolades. When he returned with his third album, Mi Sangre (2004), Juanes again garnered all kinds of commercial success and critical acclaim. He tirelessly toured in support of the album, and by 2005 he had begun topping the singles chart in non-Spanish-speaking countries such as Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. By the time he returned with his fourth album, La Vida…Es un Ratico (2007), Juanes had such a global presence, Universal chose to release “Me Enamora,” the lead single, to media outlets in 77 countries; it became a number one hit in 14 of them, setting the stage for another cycle of commercial success.

Lisa Stansfield arrives at her local pub in north London with a pair of boisterous, barking dogs.
“Eh, Mavis, Brendan – behave!” she shouts in a Rochdale accent that has lost none of its rough edges despite a decade and a half spent living in Dublin and a move to the capital a few years ago.
Hearing Stansfield speak takes you back. In the late 80s and throughout the ‘90s, the smiley singer with the Elsie Tanner accent was the coolest pop star on the planet. Her seductive, soulful vocals and timeless dance-pop songs saw her top the charts on both sides of Atlantic, duet with George Michael and Queen, win multiple Brits and Ivor Novello awards and feature on The Bodyguard, the biggest-selling film soundtrack of all time.
Four albums were international hits, selling more than 15 million copies and spawning over 20 hit singles, yet Stansfield was never interested in fame. The Adele of her day, she made only the music she wanted to make, didn’t try to keep up with trends and took her career at her own pace.

2015 war SEIN Jahr! Zwar ging es für Johannes Oerding in den Vorjahren auch schon konsequent in Richtung ›oben‹, jedoch dürfte dieses Jahr so ziemlich alles toppen, was er bisher in seiner Karriere erlebt hat.
Denn wenn er Weihnachten seine Shows als Gast bei ›Night Of The Proms‹ zu Ende gebracht hat, darf der erklärte Live-Junkie stolz sein, über 150 Konzerte absolviert zu haben, seine zwei Headliner-Tourneen waren restlos ausverkauft!  Daneben hat Johannes mit seinem vierten Studio-Album ›Alles brennt‹ in diesem Jahr sein bisher erfolgreichstes Album veröffentlicht. Mit dem Einstieg in die Top 3 der Albumcharts und der gleichnamigen Single, die in den Hitlisten ebenfalls so hoch wie nie war, hat er alle Rekorde gebrochen und Gold für weit mehr als 100.000 verkaufte Alben geholt.
