With her first single "Let you go", but even more impressive with her debut album "The Spell" Swiss singer Ira May came in 2014 into the spotlight. The album hit Number One on the Swiss Album Charts. Literally overnight, Ira May became a celebrated artist.  Comparisons like "the new Amy Winehouse" etc. were indeed flattering, but did the then 27-year-old soul singer not justice. The expectations of Ira May were enormous. So, after a very busy and intense time she withdrew for almost a year in order to recharge her batteries and to be creative again. 

The break was worth it: Ira May is ready to open a new chapter, strengthened and motivated. Already the few exclusive concerts with her band "The Seasons" in 2016 showed what a concentrated charge of fresh music will roll upon us. The album “Eye of the Beholder” - again available on CD as well as on vinyl - presents a matured Ira May, a strong singer and songwriter who is more authentic than ever. The new album was again produced by German producer Christoph Bauss aka Shuko.

In June 2016 Ira May signed up with Universal Music Switzerland.
The album “Eye of the Beholder” was released on September 23rd 2016 and went straight to number 7 of the Swiss album charts. The 16 tracks present a great stylistic variety - from soul to jazz and pop sounds to reggae. Once again the catchy ballads are a class of their own, sung with fervor, emotions and temperament. It seems that Ira May's second album has all the ingredients to become a classic. 

Ira May (29) grew up near Basel in Switzerland. At the age of 8 she began to play the piano. As a student she sang in the school choir where she performed her first solo on stage at the age of 14. She then refined her singing at the Music Academy and the Jazz School in Basel and participated in various band projects.

A short appearance in the rap project “1 City - 1 Song" launched by Rapper Black Tiger brought the attention of the media. At about the same time Shuko discovered the Swiss talent on the internet. He invited her to his studio in Germany. The chemistry was right and they are a great team ever since.
