Blanco White’s folk poetry brings together traditional music from Andalusia, South America, and England. Originally from London, Josh Edwards learned flamenco guitar and the charango—a traditional Andean instrument—during long stays in Cádiz, Spain, and Sucre, Bolivia. His project name, Blanco White, also has Hispanic roots, inspired by the Spanish poet José Maria Blanco White. After the minimalist delicacy of his EP Time Can Prove You Wrong, his latest album Tarifa embraces rhythm and groove, featuring percussionists Seb Rochford (Sons of Kemet, Polar Bear) and Pilo Adami (Nubiyan Twist). Marked by a chronic illness, this new chapter takes us on a deep inner journey—one of spirituality and resilience.
